School of The Getdown Youth Arts Camp

 

A multidisciplinary and fun arts program for youth ages 10-16 of all skill levels, encompassing vocals, dance, rap, visual art, gospel choir, and percussion.

This program is offered at no cost. A nonrefundable application fee is required to ensure limited slots are available to serious participants. Application fee is $100 before June 15, and $200 after June 15.

School of The Getdown Youth Arts Camp is offered at no cost for youth participants ages 10-16 of all skill levels. Our goal is to instill and cultivate a love of the arts in each student, with a well-rounded, multidisciplinary curriculum. We aim to foster a community based on mutual respect and encouragement so all students can discover and explore their creativity and expression.  Each student will embark on a journey of discovery of the arts, engaging in classes in vocals, rap, percussion, visual art, gospel choir, and dance. Our powerful faculty roster of renowned educators, artists, and performers will guide students of all levels through a life-changing learning experience in a supportive, fun environment, covering diverse cultural traditions and forms of expression.

Classes

All students will partake in all classes in this multidisciplinary program

Vocals - Faye Carol

Discover the joy of singing and explore your voice through harmony, repertoire, and improv. 

 

Rap - Professor Kee

Have fun exploring your voice, writing & performing your own bars, & learning about the history of hip-hop. 

​

Gospel Choir - David Jackson 

Explore the rich tradition of gospel music and discover the power and expression of gospel in a choral setting. 

 

Percussion - Juan Escovedo

Learn cultural rhythmic traditions of Latin America through a diverse array of instruments, grooves, & sounds. 

 

Visual Art - Virginia Jourdan

Learn the fundamentals of visual art while expressing your creativity through diverse mediums including painting, drawing, and more. 

 

Dance - Sister Linda

Get in the groove with moves, grooves, and choreography from Africa to America and around the world.

Thank you for your interest in enrolling in the School of The Getdown Youth Arts Camp. The program will include orientation 7/25/26 from 2-4pm, camp 7/27/26-7/31/26 from 9am-5pm daily, and recital day Saturday 8/1/26 from 11am-7pm. All activities will be held at Geoffrey's Inner Circle (410 14th St Oakland, CA 94612)

By entering my name below and submitting this form, I commit to my child attending School of The Getdown Youth Arts Camp for the full duration of the program: orientation 7/25, 2-4pm; camp daily 7/27-7/31 9am-5pm; and recital day 8/1, 11am-7pm. I understand that students are expected to be present for each full day of camp programming, with no ins and outs permitted. All other commitments, doctors appointments, etc. should be scheduled outside of the hours of camp programming.


I understand that this free program is a gift and that space is limited. I respect the valuable opportunity that is offered through this program. I understand that the applicant’s slot is not reserved until the nonrefundable application fee is received.


I authorize School of The Getdown faculty and staff to photograph and record audio and video of my child during the School of The Getdown Youth Arts Camp 7/25/26-8/1/26 and for Faye Carol, Joe Warner, and Kito Kamili to use photos, audio, and/or video for archival, educational, and/or promotional purposes.


I authorize my child to participate in off-site activities (example: walk to Frank Ogawa Plaza for lunch and/or activities) during the School of The Getdown Youth Arts Camp, within a three-block radius of Geoffrey’s Inner Circle, with proper adult supervision. I authorize School of The Getdown staff to administer ibuprofen, Benadryl, and/or Neosporin to my child as needed. I understand that due to student and staff allergies, no outside food is allowed at camp programs.
